Yiffy and other things I wish didn't happen | Part 3

Usually, I love talking about Homestuck but I already wrote 2000 words of analyzing 30 pages and here I am doing another 1000. I have so many other responsibilities and I'm spending all my time on this. Anyways, back to the comic.

Rose, Kanaya, and Jade come to see John, Vriska, and the kids. At this point I thought they were gonna explain how Yiffy is Jade's dog or something, I didn't have any reasons to expect anything else. I was wrong. I was so so wrong.

Before we get into the terrible stuff, I have to talk about the slightly less terrible but still very bad designs for all 3 girls. Rose's hair is so awful, it's like a rat tried to cut her hair, then crawled on her head, lived there for 5 weeks, then died and just stayed there for a while. Kanaya's outfit may hurt my eyes, but her lipstick hurts my soul. It DOESN'T WORK. It just doesn't. It looks disgusting. I also don't know why she would constantly stay lit up like that. She *can* turn it on and off right? Why is she walking around like that?  I don't understand? She's supposed to be *the* fashion girl so why does she look like a disaster? Jade is the only one of them that looks slightly normal, though I don't like her paw gloves and all the neon green parts of her outfit.

They immediately start criticizing John's outfit like they're not minutes away from confessing how much they screwed up. Seriously I have no idea why it's such a big deal or why are the "magical" pajamas so not magical. Kanaya completely ignores all of them and goes to check on her daughter. Because Rose is not that great at being a mother (same for being a good wife). What they say next is the worst possible thing that they could've written into the story. It was so bad my head hurts even thinking about it.

"JADE: theres something I need to tell you"

After this panel, there are no more illustrations. Just text. I'm actually glad it doesn't have them because I wouldn't be able to read them while looking at their faces.

John asks Jade if she's pregnant. This man can make everything awkward in a matter of seconds. She yells at him for even assuming she was, stating that it wasn't physically possible.

She tells him she has a daughter. In fact, she's had a daughter for quite some time. John has a hard time processing what she just told him and then Jade yells at him some more for no reason. She acts very immaturely and blames everybody for her not being able to make a family with Dave and Karkat. "They couldn't adopt because troll and humans couldn't adopt children together"? They are literal gods I don't think that applies to them. I don't think any laws apply to them. Why would that matter? It all doesn't make sense but oooHHOHO just you wait. It gets worse. A LOT WORSE.

Rose starts explaining the rest. Jade was looking for a surrogate mother to carry her child. Rose felt really bad for her she agreed to do it. John still doesn't get it. He asks about the father of the child since Rose was obviously the mother. Jade gets upset, Rose gets embarrassed, John finally understands. Jade and Rose are this child's biological parents. ENOUGH SAID I WILL NOT DWELL ON THAT THOUGHT ANY LONGER THAN I HAVE TO.
That child is, of course, Yiffy. 

Vriska is just casually standing there, smile as wide as a bus. "She looks like she wants to give someone a high-five".
I have NO IDEA why they added Yiffy into the story. What was the purpose of that???? I don't understand?? Why did they hide her from everybody???? Why didn't Rose tell Kanaya about it??? I have so many questions and so little answers.
First of all, she told them she hid her from everybody, a few seconds after crying about how she lived alone on an island for 13 years. That's kind of stupid, isn't it? They're ALL so STUPID.

What Kanaya said about it just made everything worse: "KANAYA: This Is Not Something That Will Undermine Roses And My Relationship"

Oh my god. She is such a- simp. She a simp. A simp in every timeline. Rose just doesn't love her, how can she not see that? Rose is AWFUL to her but she stayed with her for so many years. In meat, she just left Kanaya to go to space with Dirk and in Candy, she cheated on her with Jade??? I seriously cannot think of a reason she would want to stay with her.

In the end, John asks them: "JOHN: so where's dave?"

Good question.


That's what they left us with. I *cannot* believe that they did that. Couldn't they just abduct Vrissy? It would be ok and would actually make sense. How did Jane know about Yiffy?
This upd8 was honestly the worst one of them all.

Honestly, I'm not even mad at Yiffy. I'm mad that she exists.
I'm going to talk about her more in another post.
